[MOSTLY] WORDLESS WEDNESDAY - TURNING 100

Source: Twitter.com
Well, not quite turning 100 in terms of human years, but this is officially my 100th post! That is quite an achievement for me, considering I wasn’t writing for 12 years before this past November.

Somehow I feel like 100 should be a big deal, but I’ve noticed so many people continually write on a daily basis (subjectively making my life hell with how slow I am at reading! HA! Kidding... sort of) without so much as a challenge needing to prompt their fingers into furious action. 100 posts must be a drop in the bucket for those folks. I think I will continue to highlight my consecutive 100 marks and maybe try for something fancy on the 500th. That’s still a long way out, but perhaps if I begin those damned reviews it won’t be so far out afterall. Perhaps instead of talking about doing them all the time I should just get down to business and write ‘em.

This is supposed to be [mostly] wordless, but you know me. I wanted to make sure I highlighted this small milestone for The Cryton Chronicles! Now to share some simple randomness...

Little Treasures
Crooks guarding the prizes.
Catherine Stine's Ruby's Fire and Jeff Hirsch's The Eleventh Plague
These are the two book I won from two separate giveaways hosted by Catherine Stine. I just wanted to place up a picture of them — along with Crooks — to show how excited I am to have received them. I’ve mentioned Catherine a few times, and I plan on buying the eBook of the first of her series (and the second to keep the signed copy sent in pristine condition, because I’m anal like that) and attempt a review. I hope she isn't as nervous about me butchering my first book review as I am!

Friends in High Places

Monday night on the News, while visiting my grandma, the News anchors were talking about some shirts (I can’t recall for what now, except it involved some little kid acting as mayor and receiving the keys to the city? Maybe? It was cute whatever it was), and when they were done showcasing them Amelia folded her shirt real nice, while her co-anchor (and husband) just bunched his up and set it down. For some reason this had me laughing my ass off and randomly thought I would tweet Chris Shaffer (the station's meteorologist) to ask if he noticed.

I didn’t expect a reply back, but was ecstatic when I did! Then I went back on today and noticed the others had as well! I maybe went a little Twitter crazy and favored and retweeted their replies, but I wasn’t able to control myself. I always get giddy when I see celebs replying to fans, and Twitter seems the most commonplace. Maybe that is just because it’s so instant?

I joked to my friend saying how I was two days late noticing the other replies and would have to be more active if I want to be “hip” and all that jazz.

Okay, okay... so these individuals aren’t really friends over some shared tweets, but that doesn’t mean I can’t pretend!

dun Dun DUN!!

Whatever helps me sleep at night...

Lovelace (8/9/2013):

Yesterday for Trailer Tuesday I joked about the movie Rubber not being a porno, so when I saw this trailer (a friend said there has been some buzz around it; the movie, not the trailer) I found it completely fitting (and hilarious) to share it.

So here is a movie about the porno business, and it seems to have quite an interesting cast. I’m uncertain, but I wonder if this may have a limited release.

Either way, the content is bound to help me sleep worlds better than imaginary friends ;-)

And, as they say in the movie business: that’s a wrap! They may even say that in the porno industry. Though, their “wrap”s may be code for condoms, since they have to use those now.

Have you reached your 100th post yet? If so, did you make a special post for it and celebrate? Ever tweet a celeb and get a response (and/or a favorite/retweet) back?

  1. I am not to 100 yet, and actually had no idea where I was, so I had to look. I am at 73. Not too far off, thanks to your encouragement to do various blogging events/hops.

    1. You are super close! I'm sure you can think up something fancy for it^^ Maybe feature some art or the like even ;-) or another poem.

The blog hops/challenges can be a lot of fun (and time consuming).

  2. I got there, and I celebrated somehow, but I think it fell pretty flat. I'm (as you know) one of those prolific posters who makes your life hell (sorry 'bout that) so I don't think it's that big of a deal for me. I think the 500th will be a good one though :)

    1. What did you do, do you remember? Anything being considered for your 500th!

I am very impressed how many I've met can write so often (perhaps jealous is a better word). I need that power and to be able to fixate it on my fiction and I will be set!

I just saw in my guest blog post I was deemed non-prolific and I wasn't exactly sure what it meant, so it's funny you used it ;-)

  3. Congrats on your 100th post! I hit that long ago. Actually, I'm not all that far from 500. I really don't know what to think about it. That's a lot of time sitting at a computer screen!

Very cool, you rubbing elbows with the kinda rich and famous. However, all your talk of tweeting with celebrities isn't putting in a dent in my resolve, just so you know. ;)

    1. Thanks :-) Almost to 500? That is awesome! I'm not sure what someone could do all special-wise for blogs and reaching little milestones, besides just pointing it out like I did haha I may lack that spontaneous creativity.

      Hmmm too soon? lol

  4. Congrats Jak! I heard someone on TV talking about Lovelace while I was waking from Benadryl-induced oblivion. Don't remember who it was, what exactly was said about it or why they were talking about it, but distinctly remember "Lovelace" and "porno". Now that you've mentioned it as well, I'll obsess about it. Or maybe just take some more Benadryl and blackout again.

    1. Thank you much :-) You may have been results with another Benadryl Blackout. Are you sick, or just allergies, or...?

The movie looks interesting, but I likely won't be watching it unless it pops up on NFlix.

If sick, I hope you start feeling a lot better after some good rest!

    2. Thanks. Just a nasty hive-filled allergic reaction leaving me one big itch.

  5. I did not do a special post for 100 posts...I kind of didn't notice until afterward. At this point, I'm stoked when ANYONE replies to a tweet I sent. I'm not so much "with the twitter." :)

    1. I've a feel many don't, because they don't even pay attention. It's kind of a "oh I have done X posts" at some random point. I noticed I was at 98 when I was about to post the last Trailer Tuesday. Not exactly a lot of time to do anything "special" and not really sure what one would do exactly.

Find me on Twitter! I don't tweet all that often, though. Mainly just blog posts once I write them up and some randomness now and again.

  6. I will probably miss my 100th post... if I haven't already. I always tend to miss various milestones.

    1. Well, if its already gone by it's all good. You are loving what you are doing, and honestly I've no real idea what a good way to "celebrate" it is anyhow haha

  7. Congrats on the 100th post. And don't beat yourself up for not writing for 12 years or for writing more slowly than some others. Regret is like filling up a bucket with a hold in it. Never feels full. Always almost empty. I had to stop painting in order to get down to the writing career. And I had a darn good career as an artist/painter. I have to force myself not to regret when I find myself in that rare certain crappy mood. One does the best one can do. Applaud that. Applaud yourself!

  8. Well, of course I meant a bucket with a HOLE in it, not HOLD. I refuse to regret my dumb mistake. :)

    1. Thank you :-) I understand what you are saying, but I can't seem to stop beating myself up over it. I can't help but think how much farther along I would be with 12 years of writing under my belt. I can't help but think about it.

Your description is pretty dead on, and I'm jealous you have found a way to better master the avoidance of falling into such a pitfall within one's own whirlpool of doubt and regret! That is a grand achievement indeed! More so than writing 100 posts. I'd trade all that for the instant ability to control that facet of my mind. Alas, I shall attempt in increments :-)

Thank you so much for your kind words and advice! It's greatly appreciated and I "totes" (as the young crowd say these days) knew you meant hole! Nothing dumb about that mistake either ;-)

      Have a great weekend!

  9. congratulations for a 100th blog post and prizes and friends in high places. I got ecstatic when Stephen Fry followed me..I can never top that.

I am planning my 200th blog post, well after some cleaning I will. It should happen soon I swear :)

    1. Thanks! Stephen Fry?! That is very cool. I actually tweeted something I had hoped he would retweet, but no such luck :( I will have to have you help me lol

Yay! I hope you get it up soon, you need some finger action for sure!
