So, I’m just going to throw it out there: I’m incredibly sick of the constant emotional roller coaster life seems to be taking me on over these last few weeks. I think I’ve handled them as well as I can — rolling with the punches — but fear I may be compromising myself and my self-respect in the process of protecting some illusionary status quo. Sometimes it’s really hard to know what the best decisions for yourself are. There are so many factors that compete to be given priority that the swirling thoughts bombarding you are akin to a madhouse.

This weeks remembrances of the kind, light, and fluffy side of things is going to prove most challenging. This is likely caused by the recency of various events/affairs. I’d much rather just shut myself away for the weekend and wake Monday morning — which, unlike for most, if generally my favorite day of the week — and see what the new week has in store for me. This attitude shuts me down from doing most things I’ve had planned for the week (mainly concerning writing of reviews and reading/commenting on blog posts). I’ll be attempting to keep this short and sweet* beyond this point.

The Toronto International Film Festival has been releasing/featuring a handful of movies and trailers (most seem to be Indie based), and while some are decent I’m only sharing one today (though not positive it was from TIFF). Perhaps next week I can have an Indie theme, much like last week’s Hanky Panky trailers.

Today we have some espionage thrillers, some drama, some horror, and ending with some teaser trailers that I’m certain others will be more familiar with their source material than myself. Both Elysium and Kick-Ass 2 offered new trailers for movies already announced and previewed, but not much beyond that; at least through the theaters attended.

Not sure if these two teaser trailers are for movies that may end up blockbuster releases next year, but they are based off of best-selling novels/trilogies. As I said, perhaps you will be more familiar with them than I am...

This week was another for the books in terms of stress and emotional throttling. Tuesday was the dreaded night of my Sleep Study. For those not familiar, this is where you stay overnight at a specialized clinic where you get hooked up by all these wires and straps designed to document your sleeping habits. I believe it’s mainly to discover if an individual has Sleep Apnea, but believe they can detect all manners of sleep disruption from grinding teeth to restless leg syndrome to not staying in varying levels of deep sleep long enough to gain any real benefit.

I got all hooked up — minus one piece of equipment — and felt decently relaxed. I had company and all the gadgets weren’t extremely intrusive, but I made sure we were finished and that nothing would be placed around my nose or mouth. Unfortunately, that was what that final missing piece of equipment was, and my technologist told me they place it on last because it’s the piece most people hate. They place it on just before beginning the study, and I was concerned. Having things on my face in this area usually causes me to panic.

As you can see from the new blog series badge, I’ve been experimenting some with Paint and PicMonkey. I’m still a bit hesitant to dive into Gimp 2, but hopefully at some point I will get more accustomed to it and/or Photoshop. I had a specific image in mind for weeks now (more specifically the projector and screen), and this is as close as it’s going to get for now. I originally wanted a calendar on the screen with a larger overlapping Tuesday-marked date.

While looking for some images, I thought to myself: “Why the hell wouldn’t I use the standard green-band trailer shot?” So I did, and as a compromise, I chose to display Tuesday in calendar form. I played around with different locations for the “Tuesday”, and eventually settled on directly after the title (though it covers part of the projector). Then I simply added my blog button instead of just using text, which I think looks nicer. Plus I just made the damn thing and wanted to use it more!

Anyhow, time is short today as I have a Sleep Study this evening. Fun times. Speaking of sleeping around and fun times, how about we get into some Double Hanky Panky Feature action…*

I thought about continually attributing the 300esque display for each week of this blog hop — even having a “template” open to do so — but I think it’s best to leave that little special addition solely for TToT 10*. The tenth week is pretty special, given when just starting out a blog hop you aren’t sure how well it is going to be received, let alone if it will survive and grow. In my head I’m picturing the quarterly marks being the next milestones. Naturally, that isn’t for me to determine, but whatever is decided, it stands to be noted that each and every week of the hop is important.

These past few weeks have really been a roller coaster of emotions. When things seemed to be reaching a high, something caused a crash. Generally those moments are pretty abrupt. This week ended with my car being completely FUBAR (missing multiple events this weekend as a result), and now I’m looking at a stretch of time where I will be relying on friends and family to help out if I really need to get someplace. It leaves a bad taste in my mouth, because I hate asking for help.

With every crash, however, there was eventually a turnaround in the same vein...

Technically this title was used in association with a [Mostly] Wordless Wednesday post. One of which has garnished enough views to become one of the top/popular posts for my blog over the past couple weeks (as dictated by the sidebar display). As I was rifling through possible blog series titles — Cryton Critique, Chronicles Critique, Cryton Critic, Jak’s Janky Joint (and old blog title idea) to name a few — Generation Jak kept tugging at me.

For some time I wanted separate blogs with specific focuses. The Cryton Chronicles would be about my thoughts, opinions, life experiences, etc etc. Jak’s Janky Joint was going to focus on the entertainment side: Movie, music, and gaming reviews. Meta Magic (untouched at this time) focusing solely on Magic: The Gathering collectible card game. And last, but not least, Dreams in the Shade of Ink would be where I post my fiction.

I know it seems impossible, but this entry should be mainly pictures and few words. I know in person I’m usually the silent type, but when writing (or discussing a topic of passion) I can drone on and on and on and on and on and on... You get the picture.

Speaking of pictures:

I get ALL the mail!
I love getting mail when it isn’t spam and/or bills!

It’s been pretty exciting getting out to the movies lately (hoping Elysium is next on the docket). I believe I have a series title for my various reviews, and am already drafting up two movie reviews. I still have to get on some reading (recently I’ve received quite an abundance of books from giveaways and tenants moving), but the thought of that scares me. Part of me thinks if I start reading that my writing will suffer, but there’s no other way to get a review done. Same with game reviews.

Watching movies, reading books, playing games all take time. In my mind it sounds a bit very overwhelming.

In the meantime, while I hammer away a decent system of balancing those activities with other life priorities, I have a few trailers to share. Some have been out for a few weeks, while others are brand-spanking-new. I was torn on providing the teaser trailers for some of the selections instead, but I’d rather get out the newest previews available and let everyone else decide if they want to watch them (and possibly see too much) or not. Plus, when noticing that almost all of the teaser trailers were just as long as the full trailers I figured “what’s the point?”...

Wow - it’s already been ten weeks since this blog hop was launched by Lizzie over at Considerings. The hop has grown since it’s initial startup weekend, and is continually doing so as time keeps on slipping into the future. If you haven’t checked it out yet I encourage you to do so! The information can be found by clicking on the TToT banner above.

Nothing beats overcoming a difficult week like taking time to recap some of the finer moments in life*. Sometimes they come easy, sometimes you have to dig, but they are always there and each time you focus on recalling them is another step closer to positive thinking! So drown out all that nasty hubdrub and share what you are grateful for, I promise you will feel better**.

Being the tenth week makes me feel like I should be contributing something a tad bit special, but alas, I’m at a loss, so I’ll get right into the meat of my listing. Though, there is a chance some participating in the hop will like this...

Well, not quite turning 100 in terms of human years, but this is officially my 100th post! That is quite an achievement for me, considering I wasn’t writing for 12 years before this past November.

Somehow I feel like 100 should be a big deal, but I’ve noticed so many people continually write on a daily basis (subjectively making my life hell with how slow I am at reading! HA! Kidding... sort of) without so much as a challenge needing to prompt their fingers into furious action. 100 posts must be a drop in the bucket for those folks. I think I will continue to highlight my consecutive 100 marks and maybe try for something fancy on the 500th. That’s still a long way out, but perhaps if I begin those damned reviews it won’t be so far out afterall. Perhaps instead of talking about doing them all the time I should just get down to business and write ‘em.

This is supposed to be [mostly] wordless, but you know me. I wanted to make sure I highlighted this small milestone for The Cryton Chronicles! Now to share some simple randomness...

Last Friday I saw 2 Guns on a date night, which I mentioned in my last 10 Things of Thankful post. Two of the trailers shown before the show were completely new to me, and I would like to share them today. Seeing 2 Guns, despite really wanting to watch it, was a result of being late to Man of Steel. Tonight I was actually able to see that movie as well, on another impromptu date night (just getting back from actually). Man of Steel offered no new trailers, because I am so “in the know” and all that jazz!

Hopefully I can get up reviews of both movies soon!

I’m excited to show the new trailers I saw Friday night, and there is a great spread of genres, but first I’d like to share one that I came across just a few nights ago that I think is amazing...

Alright, I’ve had this doc opened the entire day so now that 8pm (make that 11pm) is fast approaching I best get on it! I’ve spend most of the day catching up on other TToT posts for the blog hop so I’m not doing so in the middle of the week (or the day of the next hop...), and can feel a tad bit more relieved with my slow, procrastinating approach to things.

Dyanne and I duke it out sometimes for last place (we are convinced there is an unspoken prize), but with all the newcomers it’s a rough competition. Besides, this gives those overseas individuals something to read in the morning when they open their precious little eyes and begin the new day.

I was just talking about how I need to start writing a list of things I am Thankful for as they happen, because they seem to conveniently disperse when I reach back and sift through my memory. Let’s see what I happen to recall...
